My wife & I visited Blackpool for the lights, on a whim, and this was one of the few hotels available. When we arrived we were the only guests, due to our day of arrival, and we had the pick of the rooms.
Plus side:
It is about a 3 minute walk from the tram stop and the sea, in what was when we stayed, a quiet road. There is (limited) parking outside the hotel, but parking around in other streets. The owners are very friendly & knowledgeable about the area; they also have a small dog.
The rooms are basic; (we had the front bedroom), on-suite was very cosy, (read narrow). Shower seemed a bit temperamental. Tea and coffee supplied also TV. Bed not too uncomfortable.
Breakfast excellent, (we were the only guests for the first day, and I thought this might had made a difference, but it didn't).
Minus side: Our Room was in need of redecorating and it is supposed the others would have been too. A little mould on the wall by the window.
Although rooms are non-smoking, the owners smoke and this permeates the house.
The bar was not opened while we were there. This wasn't a real problem, as by the time we got back at night it was gone midnight and we had told to ask if we wanted anything, we just didn't think it right to wake the owners just because we wanted a drink!
All in all, we enjoyed the stay, although we just used it as a place to sleep. The smell of cigarettes was irksome but annoyed my wife more then me. As a base to explore Blackpool and area The Sefton is quite good. It is at the North end of the town and so you either have to drive or take the tram, but they are clean & frequent and if you get a rover ticket, reasonably priced.
ProsLocation; food
Consroom decor; smell of cigarettes
