Upmarket chain hotels are often a disappointment - this isn't. Helped by the friendly welcome from the native New Zealanders - it overcomes the smart but bland decor to make it a pleasure to stay. Rooms are spacious and well appointed - and housekeeping unobtrusive and quick.The gym is well equipped and open from early to late - and the bar stayed open late and was frequented by some famous faces - including Bill Nighy.Prices are good value at under £80 a night and high speed wifi is available in the rooms
