The Forbury Hotel is simply extraordinary.... sexy, glamorous and destined to be one of the best boutique hotels in the country.
Inside, the building is a mixture of classic and contemporary, all vaulted ceilings, panelled walls, wide corridors and period features, contemporary artwork on every wall, and a chandelier dripping with crystal that descends the stairwell.
Our bedroom was stunning, gold and aubergine colour scheme with stripped wooden floors, Bang & Olufsen plasma TV and DVD, free standing bath with waterfall taps, Molton Brown toiletries, I could go on, but its the little extras that make this place so extra special....
Each guest is given a goodie bag in the room which includes a back massager with massage cream, scented candles, Molton Brown travel kit, proper slippers and more. There is a complimentary mini bar with soft drinks and water, a coffee machine with a selection of coffee pods to choose from, a choice of CDs and DVDs in the room and in the bathroom there are scented candles and a crystal bowl of scented oil to add to the bath. You are also brought fresh bottled milk and ice when you have checked in.
We ate In Cerise, the chic and sexy basement restaurant and cocktail bar. We had to return two dishes to the kitchen and the service was a little slapdash but overall it was a very pleasant evening. You can see what the restaurant is trying to achieve, it just needs a little work. Saying that, the food was of a good standard, the staff very accommodating and the cocktails were incredible (try the Lemon grass Debonair).
I am extremely fortunate as I stay in luxury hotels on a regular basis and I can honestly say The Forbury is one of the most stunning properties I have had the privilege to stay in for sometime.
Just go....don't think about it, book it! You know your worth it!
