My fiancé and I stayed here in September 2007 for a week on a half board basis. We chose it as we wanted the peace and quiet that Puerto de Mogan offers as a destination in Gran Canaria and the hotel did not leave us disappointed.
The coach journey from the airport is very long and if you go with a package holiday you will most likely be the last people to get off the coach having seen others get off at the other hotels in different towns. However having seen the hotels and areas that the other people were going to we were even more pleased to pull up at the Coridal Mogan Playa which was sophisticated and relaxing as opposed to a Brits abroad type hotel of which many we had passed in other towns as we drove to our destination.
The staff were friendly and while checking in offered a glass of orange juice or water since it was about 2am. There was apparently sandwiches laid on in a different room too for those who wanted some kind of dinner however we were not informed of this and found out the next day from someone else.
The pool areas were clean and sparkling and the water was fairly warm after about 11am. We never had a problem getting a sun lounger and there were plenty of cushions and free sun umbrella's too which were a necessity.
There were some activities such as water polo and aqua aerobics happening throughout the day but they were not intrusive if you didn't want to join in and they didn't take over the whole of the pool either.
At lunch time we usually had a sandwhich or some tapas at the pool bar which was reasonably priced and delicious. We then took the main meal as our half board in the evenings and had the buffet. It changed every day and there was usually something we could eat and enjoy - and the desserts were plentiful and delicious!
Breakfast was buffet style too and had everything you could possibly want from cereal and toast to full cooked breakfast or omelet cooked to your request, pancakes, cold meats etc.
The hotel was a short walk from some shops and a supermarket and then about a 10 minute walk down to the main shops, beach and restaurants of the old town. Puerto de Mogan is very pretty but there is not much to do if you want a more active holiday. We tried to hire a pedalo from the beach but could not find the pedalo man all day!
Other things we liked about the hotel were the giant chess set which no one else ever seemed to use, and the spa which had a spa pool with warm jets and fountains, jacuzzis etc.
All in all a great hotel with excellent facilities.
