The visit
La Palmeraie hotel is located in Palmar on the East Coast of Mauritius. On either side of the hotel there are long sandy beaches inviting you for long walks.
The transfer time from the airport is about one hour, as is the journey to the capital Port Louis.
Location
Le Telfair is located in Bel Ombre on the wild South Coast of Mauritius. Development of this remote area began only recently. The coral reef forms a protective lagoon for swimmers and for those who want to try water sports but you can still see and hear the waves breaking on the reef. The transfer time from the airport is about one hour, as is the journey to the capital Port Louis.
Atmoshpere
Private and confidential is the slogan of La Palmeraie and with only 60 rooms it lives up to this slogan. The hotel is carefully decorated with eye for detail: the mosaic tables around the pool, big white curtains waft in the breeze and bright colours contrast with the buildings and the clear blue lagoon… it feels a bit like being in a Moroccan Riad.
Rooms
The rooms are also furnished in the same Andalusian style and decorated with bright colours. Each room has a private balcony, shower room and separate toilet.
Beach
The lagoon is excellent for snorkeling and kite surfers can often be seen venturing out in the waves. The beach on the East Coast stretches into the distance on both sides of the hotel. Directly in front of the hotel there are private cabins (exclusively for hotel guests) which allow you to enjoy the sun while being protected from the wind.
Activities
The Mauritian staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. Also very nice is the little attention which you'll find in your room every day when you get back from the beach late afternoon. A butler is available for all guests staying in one of the suites.
Included in your rate are all water sports, i.e. sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, pedalo, glass bottom boat and snorkeling.
Service
Genuine Mauritian friendliness which is emphasized by the fact that the hotel is so small.
Food
There are three restaurants at La Palmeraie:
- Le Shéhérazade, the main buffet restaurant where breakfast and dinner is served.
- Le Momo’s, to enjoy a typical Moroccan meal.
- L’Oasis, the bar at the pool where light lunches are served.
Cleanliness
Everything as it should be!
Value for money
Good…a four star hotel with a four star price.

- The Moroccan restaurant boasts three big tables which seat eight people each, enabling the exchange of experiences after a lazy day at the beach or an active day discovering Mauritius.
