Detailed review
Located on the top of a hill about 5 mins drive away from the city centre and 10 mins away from the EU / Business district, this hotel is too far away from anything that you might want to visit Luxembourg city for. Cab rides into town average EUR 15 so make sure you are rich or you have an expense account handy. The hotel has been around for at least 30 years (it used to be the Intercontinental) and I must say that it definitely feels old - the bathrooms still had the Intercontinental logo embossed on the basin! The style is definitely 60s/70s in architecture - think monolithic and concrete on the outside, with swirly patterned carpets and liberal use of plastic on the inside. The gym and pool were a bit depressing, set in the basement with no windows. I don't need an excuse not to exercise so this didn't help my health!Room size was OK - a good desk for working on and a small lounge area came with the generous double bed.The only other thing that saved it were the staff who were uniformly helpful and the fact that service levels were Hilton standard.Oh, laundry was expensive. I found out that I could buy new socks for less that it cost to clean my own!
