Detailed review
Hi. My wife and I chose to go go to the Maldives for our honeymoon 4 years ago. We chose the island of Meeru as it looked excellent and Meeru Vills was reasonably priced. We had booked to stay in one of the 'beachside' apartments. We were a little disappointed when we arrived as the apartments were fairly small, dark and not as close to the beach as we would have liked. We immediately decided to upgrade which was an option offered to us by the reception staff on arrival. What the hell....it was out honeymoon after all. The cost of upgrade was about £300 but that was cheaper than it would have been to do it on initial booking through the traval agent. It was definately worth the money! We were shown into our plush water villa. It was a good size with an outside balcony overlooking the sea with steps down into the water. Beautiful! The holiday was all inclusive and there was a building located centrally where meals are served buffet style. The food was great however we were sat with an odd couple form Northampton who were a bit of a pain. We were too polite to ask to be moved. Staff obviously thought they were doing us a favour as they were also a young honeymooning couple however I found myself hoping they might drown on one of their many scuba diving trips they bored us with. As well as scuba diving there were sightseeing and fishing trips available- some complimentary as well as massage and other activities. We found that we made good use of the pool bar sampling the much of the free alcohol! The holiday was great however there was a family there with teenage children. I remember speaking to them and they found it a little bit quiet with not too many activities for them... or many other people their own age. Overall a fantastic holiday for couples which holds a lot of great memories for us!
Romantic location.
Not great for kids.
