The modernist Starck exterior demanded curiosity from passers-by as we pulled up to The Hudson and a valet helped us into the small lobby. We were faced with a steep, green-lit escalator which delivered us into a magical, leaf-canopy covered lobby and the most stunning, heavy wood check-in desk I have ever seen. The staff couldn't do enough to help, and whilst I checked in, my awestruck partner sat in one of the many unique bucket-chairs, next to an Edwardian style desk with a old-dial telephone... it was like Sherlock Holmes meets Vivienne Westwood! The rooms were just as high class, with stunning furniture and design touches straight out of a Vogue photoshoot. The breakfasts include blackberries and raspberries the size of which you have never seen, and fresh breads and meats from all over the world, all served in a huge, Ivy-league college style dining room. Our best hotel stay ever... clubbing in Manhattan is a big lure, but staying in the beautiful hotel garden/patio area for cocktails on huge Moroccan cushions is unmissable.
