Detailed review
I booked the Quality Hotel as it was central to St James Park, shopping areas and nightlife. Yes it is certainly very central but trying to find it was difficult unless you were going by car to their carpark. The entrance off Newgate St was poorly signed and appeared only as a stick-on on the door in pale white and the entrance to the reception was at first floor some minutes walking. The staff seemed to be of eastern European. The bedroom was just ok not special but the ensuite was badly in need of refurbishment. Sky tv in the bedroom was advertised but that doesnt exist. The full English breakfast was good. However, the evening meals were far from satisfactory. The 2nd evening we were their there seemed to be friction between the chef and the floor staff. The few people that used the restaurant talked about the long wait to be served (in our case in was 1 hour) and to make matters worst the meal tasted bad. I think I will give this hotel a miss the next time I visit Newcastle which incidently is a great city to visit.
