I was in Carols Resort, Makady Bay, last summer with my family and some friends.
An Italian agency has booked a family suite for me (we have three children) paying an overcharge of about 500€ for one week; but when we arrived - late in the night (00:30)- they told us that family suites don't exist in the hotel. They gave us only a big room with one king size and two queen size beds, on first floor, with no elevators (we have a baby with trolley so we had to carry it on stairs). I told this to the reception but they were not very kind in answering me.
The hotel is an attractive architecture, with a lot of swimming pools. But all is crumbling: the swimming pool surfaces are a disaster (after the first day children had feet all scratched by playing in the water!)And water (taken from sea) was very dirty. It was not possible to do a bath in the sea cause corals starts from the beach, and water is only few inches. There is a long wharf to arrive where the reef ends, but is too deep to swimming with children (but I must say that you can find wonderful fishes there...). Restaurant was the worst thing: food of very bad quality, we have never eat so bad, and after two days all the group has gastroenterology problems - they told us it was for air conditioners... We were in a "all inclusive board" and at lunch there was a service near to the main swimming pool, but courses were so poor (pizza, hamburger, french fries,...) and a lot of queue to do!
Daily and evening entertainment were very insufficient, both for children and for adults. I prefer not talking about excursions, expensive and really disappointing.I could say that the resort has problems of management and maintenance. They say to be a 5 stars but I don't agree.
