The visit
The Heritage Resort & Spa (belonging to Veranda Resorts) commenced operations in 2004 and is one of the most recent hotels in Mauritius on the newly developed South Coast, a region which is still pristine and surrounded by a beautiful nature reserve. There are slate water basins everywhere in which the African atmosphere is reflected.
Location
The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort is located on the south coast of Mauritius, on the site of an old sugar estate, close to the village of Bel Ombre. The transfer time from the airport is about one hour. It takes about the same time to go to the capital Port Louis.
Atmoshpere
African touches all over: ochre walls, masks, exotic woods. Lots of water features with slate swimming pools all along the beach and between the restaurants.
Rooms
The rooms have either a garden view or a direct sea view. They are nicely furnished and comprise of a very well equipped bathroom with designer wash basins, a shower and a bath tub. The bath room is divided from the room by an open window which you can close with wooden shutters. On your own private terrace you can enjoy the outdoors or have breakfast.
Beach
The Heritage Golf & Spa Resort beach extends beyond the neighbouring hotels, inviting long walks to the sound of the waves breaking on the reef. To note is that the lagoon is quite shallow and therefore it is particularly suitable for children.
Activities
Lots of water sports are offered (free of charge as in most resorts in Mauritius): water skiing (as well as wake board and one ski), catamarans, lasers, windsurfing, etc. Scuba diving is payable (for non all-inclusive guests). There is also a tennis court and a Seven Senses Spa.
Adjacent to hotel Heritage there is an 18 hole (72 par) championship golf course with beautiful views of the surrounding nature.
Service
Discrete, efficient and courteous… as is the Mauritian nature. A 5 star hotel in Mauritius with an equal service.
Food
The Heritage comprises five restaurants:
- Balafon, the main restaurant where the breakfast buffet and dinner (either as buffet or as a set menu) are served.
- Infinity Blue, the beach restaurant for Mediterranean lunches and sea food dinners.
- Amafrooty, the pool restaurant for light lunches
- La Compagnie des Comptoirs, the fine dining restaurant under the supervision of Michelin French Chefs, the brothers Jacques and Laurent Pourcel. Refined food in a privileged setting.
- A beautiful old colonial house has been converted into the fine dining restaurant Le Château de Bel Ombre, at the edge of the golf course where you can also have your afternoon tea.
Cleanliness
Impeccable everywhere: from the garden to the public areas, passing the Spa and of course the room.

Heritage Golf & Spa Resort is the only five star ultra all inclusive resort in Mauritius. The All Inclusive package is optional. Should you choose it, Spa treatments, scuba diving and even Champagne are included!
For families
Children from 4 to 12 are entertained at the kids club at Heritage Golf & Spa Resort. For those younger than 4 there is a babysitter service available.
