It is not easy to find accommodation in August on the coast in Italy. Albenga is a medieval little town with a beautiful old center. We were here for a few days to visit friends and only could get a small appartment in Residence San Michele.
The appartment was spacious and clean with a little kitchen, a big balcony with no view (well... a view on other appartment buildings). The girl at the reception was very friendly and helpful but we haven't met any other staff.
The residence is in a very quiet area of Albenga and you would only stay here if you have a car at your disposal as it is in the center but in a way quite far from everything.
